Mainers use and dispose of more than 700 million (yes really!) shopping bags a year according to the Natural Resources Council of Maine. What to do about this? GOT YOUR BAGS is a campaign to reduce the number of paper and plastic single-use checkout bags by 33% in 2012 AND to increase the usage of reusable bags for shopping.
