The Maine District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration is responsible for the delivery of SBA's many programs and services to all 16 counties in the State of Maine. As an independent agency of the federal government, the SBA serves to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns; to preserve free competitive enterprise; and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy of the Nation.
Maine Small Business Development Centers (Maine SBDC) provide comprehensive business management assistance, training and information services to Maine's micro and small business community. Maine SBDC is a partnership program of the U. S. Small Business Administration.
SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth, and success of small businesses. The Maine Chapters of SCORE are administered under a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration. SCORE members are successful, retired businessmen/women who volunteer their time to assist aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Maine�s Women�s Business Center is a joint venture of the U.S. Small Business Administration�s Office of Women�s Business Ownership, KeyBank and Coastal Enterprises Inc. (CEI). The Women�s Business Center provides assistance and/or training in finance, management, marketing, procurement and the Internet, as well addressing specialized topics such as home-based businesses, corporate executive downsizing and welfare-to-work.
